The trailer for 'Forrest Gump' presents different interesting aspects of the film that the distributors thought would attract audience members. I believe that the film was made because it was based on a succesfull book by Winston Groom that had orginally attracted readers therefore the film producers wouldnt have to take such a high risk with their money when deciding to make the film because it would already be known and many would have already had an opportunity to relate to the story.
The distributors backed up my theory by creatingthe trailer for 'Forrest Gump' effectively because they included the overall plot of the film in the trailer; the best parts of the novel are described and presented within the three minutes of film presented therefore attracting those familiar with the story. The distributors also make a good show of the conversion of the story from a novel to picture, they show true interesting and powerful moments in the trailer that can only be dull and dim when read. Lastly they include at the end of the trailer that 'Forrest Gump' is based on a best selling book by Winston Groom this therefore intrigues people to watch the film if it came from a successful novel.
The trailer for 'Titanic' is powerful and full of emotion and attraction; the film is presented in a magnificent way by the distributor to attract audiences to create the amoutn of money engrossed by the film. I believe that 'Titanic was made only because it was an interesting historical event that many people were intrigued by and the trailer emphasises this very clearly.
The trailer of 'Titanic' presents a non - linear narrative as it goes backwards and forwards through time; this shows that the story is based on a previous past event as the trailer shows scene's in the present and the past. The distributors show that 'Titanic' was made becaude of the historical event because it uses the past tense and by presenting two actresses who both have completely different ages to play 'Rose' to show the passing of time. The film 'Titanic' adds a romantic twist to the story to attract more audiences but the history of the event remamins within the trailer therefore it backs up my theory of the reason behind the production of such a successful film.
