Costumes and Props

My trailer is in the horrific genre therefore I need to choose as the encoder props and costumes that will signify the right meaning to my decoders. My props and costumes need to be intertextualised with the rest of the 'Horror' genre therefore as the encoder I have to choose carefully.

Costumes

  • Matt Shaw (Victim) - Simple hoodie that could easily be put on over anything to ensure that the costume remains the same in all scenes. Hoodies are also modern and young therefore they will relate to my target audience.
  • Conor Cruse (Victim) - Simple hoodie to match his co star and to signify modern society to attract my target audience.
  • Alex Forbes (Killer) - Dark coat and a ragged hoodie to signify the 'Bad Guy' with a white face mask to anchor the name of the film 'The Man in the Mask' and to signify the genre.

Props

  • Fake Blood to create horrific effect to signify genre
  • Face Mask to anchor the name of the film
  • Knife to intertextualise 'Horror' genre and to add suspense and effect for my target audience
